Holiday baking is something most of us look forward to every year. Even in this year of the pandemic, which does not allow for large festive gatherings and entertaining, we can still take pleasure in baking cookies for sharing them with those we care about. Putting together a holiday cookie gift box is a simple and tangible way to bring joy at a time that we can use it more than ever!
A holiday cookie gift box does not have to be fancy; keep it simple and keep it fun!
What to put in a holiday cookie gift box
Plan on baking three to five different cookies, prepare the dough of each one ahead of time to save time. Use your favorite recipes and experiment with some new ones too! Plan on baking cookies with different textures and shapes, making sure to include something chocolaty, something jammy, something crunchy, and something sparkly! Once you have everything ready, spread them all out so you can see what you have!
How to assemble a cookie box
Find a sturdy box that is rather shallow and not too big. Gather some festive ribbon, some small cupcake liners, some peppermint candies and get creative! You can stack a few cookies, tie them with a ribbon and place them in the box. Stack another kind of cookie, tie them with a ribbon too and place them in the box on their side. Use cupcake liners to hold smaller cookies or holiday candy. Choose the prettiest cookies to place in the middle of the box as a focal point!

Chocolate Medallions with Nuts & Dried Fruit
If you love chocolate, these little bites are a real treat that you can literally make in 10 minutes! Here is how:
- Melt some dark chocolate or your favorite chocolate chips in small bowl placed over a small saucepan of simmering water. Stir often until the chocolate is completely melted.
- While the chocolate melts, chop up your favorite dried fruit and nuts and set aside (I used roasted almonds, salted pumpkin seeds, walnuts, golden cherries, dried cranberries, dried blueberries, dried apricots, dried figs, and some shredded coconut, but any combination you like will do!).
- Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper. Pour spoonfuls of melted chocolate onto the parchment paper.
- Scatter your dried fruit and nuts over the chocolate. Sprinkle with fleur de sel, if you have it.
- Set the medallions aside until the chocolate is firm.
- Enjoy!

Marilena,
Thank you for this gorgeous post! All of these special treats look delicious –and do-able, which is itself inspiring. I am also struck by the glorious photography! Each frame evokes not only flavors, but an occasion and people: cozy tea time, kid time, sneaking-kitchen-treats time, festive gatherings that we have so missed this year. I was especially struck by the photo of the snowy white Greek Christmas cookie framed by holly and soft greys; it says Winter in such a lovely way. We are all indebted to you for sharing your time and energy with us to create your beautiful and uplifting site. May you and your family continue to enjoy these holidays together in good health and happiness!
