Thanksgiving is just a few days away and, chances are that right about now you are in the midst of finalizing your menu, looking for a couple of new recipes and doing all your shopping. It is a very busy time of the year and that is why this post arrives to your inbox a little later than usual this year.
If you feel a little overwhelmed right now, here is the good news: Thanksgiving does not have to be stressful or complicated! I have some simple tips to help you with your plans for the big day!
Four Tips for Planning a Successful Thanksgiving
— Make detailed lists: Create a list for all your menu, gather all your recipes, and print them out. Make two detailed shopping lists–one for staples and one for perishables. Write down your oven schedule (i.e., what goes in when and for how long).
— Prep ahead of time: Make a note of which dishes can be done ahead of time and stick with the schedule. You can make your cranberry relish, your pie crusts, your gravy, and your breads well ahead of time.
— Get the dining room ready: Now is the time to decide which dishes will go on which platters or serving bowls and place a little sticky note on each one so you know what goes where.
— Accept help: I know it is hard! Many of us like doing things our own way, but don’t try to be a superhero. Delegate tasks to your guests and let them bring their signature dishes.
