This time of the year is prime citrus season all around the Mediterranean and markets are piled high with all sorts of oranges, blood oranges, mandarines, lemons, grapefruits, and more. Citrus fruits find their way into many recipes–from appetizers to desserts–and are often the star ingredient in many winter dishes. And why not, as they offer a welcomed fresh and bright pop of flavor (and color) to our tables!
There are so many ways we can enjoy citrus fruit during the winter months: slice or segment some juicy oranges and add them to your green salads for a great textural contrast, zest them and add them to your baked goods for a punch of flavor, or, juice them and add them to your sauces and favorite vinaigrettes to add a bright acidic element.
Here is a roundup of some of my favorite Bright Citrus Recipes to Make this Winter. I hope you will get to try a couple of them before the season comes to an end, and, add them to your weekly meal rotation. They are sure to bring a little brightness to any winter’s day table!
