Easter is only a few days away and that means that the Easter menu is on everyone’s mind! So instead of a new recipe, I decided to pull together an Easter recipe roundup, hoping that my suggestions might provide some inspiration for the dishes you choose for this year’s Easter celebration!
This is one of those rather rare years that Orthodox Easter coincides with Western Easter. This means that, instead of my family celebrating Easter twice (often just one or two weeks apart), we will celebrate it once, combining favorite dishes from both traditions. During the week leading to Easter, we always dye eggs, make traditional Greek Easter cookies, and of course bake loaves of the traditional braided Greek sweet-bread (tsoureki).
Preparing an Easter feast means also selecting dishes that highlight the seasonality and celebrate the arrival of spring. Besides the roast lamb or the baked ham, at this time of the year we have so many options for colorful side dishes and fresh spring vegetables, like the ones I included in this post. My suggestion for easy appetizers are the Feta cheese filo cigars and a delicious artichoke and olive tapenade. On my list are also two favorite breads to choose from, and a super easy dessert that is always a crowd pleaser.
I wish you all a Happy Easter και Καλο Πασχα!
