Happy summer! June 21st is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere; the day which we enjoy the most sunlight and the shortest night. People around the world celebrate the beginning of the summer and it is no surprise that many of the festivities have food as a major part of the fun.
I revisited a few of my favorite seasonal recipes for you today on this blog, and I will enjoy making them over the next few months. Most are simple recipes; a few require a little planning, but all are straight-forward. The bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables now available at the market makes our meal planning easy and spontaneous. Fresh, local produce not only looks great and tastes better, but it inspires us to be creative and get cooking. Making use of that seasonal bounty–or the outdoor grill–is at the core of these 12 recipes.
These summer stunners are eagerly awaited every year by my family and will be in my regular meal rotation for them. I hope that you make some of them this summer too and that they become regulars in your repertoire!
Here are 12 of my favorite recipes to cook this summer:
Baked Feta with Peppers and Tomatoes
Shrimp Saganaki (the most popular recipe on the blog)
Lemony Orzo with Roasted Summer Vegetables and Feta (a favorite Ina Garten recipe)
Grilled Steak salad with Peaches and Goat Cheese
Easy Baked Zucchini Fries with Tzatziki
Filo Millefeuville with Almond Pastry Cream
Danish Filo Pastries with Berries
