Summer Colors of New England
As kids head back to school this week around here, and we all start settling down to our new routines, I finally had the chance to sort through my photos from the summer. So, instead of posting a recipe, this time I am going to share some photos from the second part of my vacation; our annual family trip to New England.
Most people associate New England with the foliage and the gorgeous fall colors, but summer is also an amazing time to be there. The colors of New England in the summer time are decidedly red and white, with splashes of blue and swatches of green: bright red barns and farmhouses, little white churches, picket fences, small town halls and libraries, quaint covered bridges, hillsides and country roads dotted with flags, peaceful lakes surrounded by lush evergreens, maples, oaks and birch, abandoned railroad stations, old tractors, and, roadside farm stands selling home grown produce by the honor system.
While the majority of these pictures are from New Hampshire and Vermont, many could just as easily have come from Maine, Massachusetts or Connecticut. Although we only stayed a little over one week, we were able to do a good amount of traveling and often without a specific destination. It is hard to believe that summer is almost behind us!
